St Claire Country House

SMALL LUXURY FRENCH COUNTRY HOUSE (Sleeps 24)
St Claire Country House is a new, beautifully luxurious French Colonial residence that sleeps 24 people in 9 bedrooms. The 9 bedrooms, and 5 bathrooms, are located across the East and West Wings. Each bedroom looks out onto the garden.
There is a central building called the Salon that is the gathering place. It has a large designer kitchen, a long French dining table that seats 24, a lounge area around an open fire place that seats 24 and a home theatre.
There are two outdoor living areas on lush lawn. A one-acre romantic garden around the residence completes the picture.

SUITABILITY
St Claire is suitable for large groups such as for weddings, birthday and anniversary celebrations, family groups, wellness retreats, corporate entertaining and meetings, girls’ weekends, writers’ retreats, golfing groups and walking groups. It is also suitable for product launches and photo shoots.
Chefs from the region can be engaged to provide a special lunch, private dinner or high tea for the group.

LOCATION
Located at Trentham East, St Claire sits on 24 acres. It is surrounded by tranquil rolling countryside. St Claire is only five minutes’ drive from Trentham Village, one hour from inner Melbourne and 20 minutes from Woodend, Daylesford and Kyneton.

ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIORS
St Claire’s architecture is in graceful French Colonial style, harking from where the French had colonies. There are steep roofs, dormer windows, tall chimneys, verandas, French doors and rustic shutters. The interiors of St Claire have 12-foot ceilings, oak floors, marble mantle pieces, gilded mirrors, basket chandeliers, French furniture and soft colour everywhere. Wallpapers and fabrics are by Designers Guild and Sanderson.

THE DELIGHTS OF TRENTHAM
The village of Trentham is five minutes away, with its gourmet Annie Smithers’ restaurant, gastro pubs, trendy cafes and specialist shops.

EXPLORE THE REGION
St Claire Country House is the perfect base from which to explore the region. There are key attractions such as gourmet eateries, gardens, walks, specialist shopping, spas, wineries, galleries, cinemas, nurseries and heritage. These attractions are found within 30 minutes’ drive.

PRIVATE FUNCTIONS SUCH AS WEDDINGS
There is a French Salon and North Lawn available for private functions.
The French Salon can hold up to 120 people cocktail style and 88 people sit down.
The North Lawn can have marquees on it and up to 120 people.

St Claire Country House is a country estate with gracious French Colonial buildings and a perfumed romantic garden, all set in tranquil countryside. It can provide the perfect setting for your fashionable wedding in the country.

The venue space comprises a French Salon and the North Lawn. The ceremony can be in the Salon or outdoors. The reception can be in the Salon or outdoors on the North Lawn.

Beautiful French Salon
The Salon of St Claire is a splendid French conservatory style room, filled with flowers and plants. It was designed to be beautiful and captivating – a space suited to special occasions.

North Lawn
A wedding ceremony can be held on the North Lawn. If you wish a floral arch or wall can be set up.
For a reception on the North Lawn, you can have a chic white canvas and cotton rope and pole tent, a traditional marquee or a canvas village, with stations such as a bar, a food area, umbrellas with wine barrels under them and a lounge area. Games such as croquet, boules and chess can be played.

Accommodation
There is on-site accommodation for up to 24 people, across 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There is a central gathering space with a large designer kitchen, a dining table that seats 24, a lounge area that seats 24 and a home theatre.

Location
Trentham East, where St Claire is located, is only one hour North West from inner Melbourne and five minutes from Trentham village, with its gourmet Annie Smithers restaurant, gastro pubs and trendy cafes.

Clunes Museum

The Clunes Museum is housed in the former warehouse (c.1860) of contractors Nicholl and Wallace who supplied building materials and hardware to miners, farmers and residents. Since then, it's many and varied uses reflect the town's history and, of course, it is very much part of the town's celebrated 19th century street-scape. Between the wars, it was part of the original knitting mill in Fraser Street. During WWII, it was used as a hostel for families. After the war, it was a hairdresser's for many years as well as an upholsterer's, a dressmaker's and even a fish and chip shop. The redeveloped building, now known as The Warehouse - Clunes to reflect it's 19th century history, reopened in 2014 and it operates as a Hub housing the Museum, the Library, the Visitor information Centre, the Hepburn Shire Service Centre as well as event and meeting spaces.

Clunes Town Hall

The Clunes Town Hall and Court House is a striking and eclectic municipal building design by Percy Oakden, and a rare rural example of a combined Court House and Town Hall.

Built in 1872-3 the distinctive Victorian free Classical style building reflects the civic pride of a gold town at the peak of its prosperity, with many original period features intact. The hall is regularly used to events, meetings and functions. Visit during the Booktown festival and enjoy an event in the spectacular hall. Why not book the space for your next function?

Daylesford Cider

Here at Daylesford Cider we produce a range of multi-award winning ciders made using the 17 varieties of English-heritage listed cider apples we grow organically on the farm just outside Daylesford. The styles of cider range from traditional ‘still’ with an almost bone-dry palate, through to lightly carbonated and sweeter ones.
It only seems fitting that our ciders are sold from an English style Tavern cellar door. The Tavern offers a cosy setting in Winter and in Summer people can kick back in the courtyard and landscaped gardens and enjoy the lawn games.
The cellar door is open 7 days a week serving our range of ciders to drink in or take home, as well as local and regional beers, wines & soft drinks. The kitchen is open for lunch Friday-Monday, offering a modest menu to accompany a cider or two.
