Almost the entire town of Clunes is heritage-listed and numerous grand old buildings can be found throughout the town, dating back to the gold rush days. The history is perfectly illustrated with a visit to Fraser Street.
Fraser St is wide and elegant, full of 19th-century shops with original storefronts and distinctive verandas, and lined with oak and elm trees planted last century. Take a walk around the township and discover the charming architecture and history of the town including the former London Chartered Bank (1871) and Italianate Post Office (1878), which is now home to a second hand bookshop. Make sure you stop by the historic Clunes Museum in Collins Place, to discover the history in more detail.
