The iconic Lake House, Daylesford owned and operated by the Wolf-Tasker family since 1984 is a property full of love and soul, art and life; a property in which to indulge, relax and cocoon. The renowned restaurant draws appreciative foodies from Australia and around the world. In the kitchens, a talented team under the guidance of co-owner and Culinary Director Alla Wolf-Tasker AM work from the ground up producing cutting edge, modern Australian cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal and regional ingredients.

Lake House is a tranquil retreat that includes 33 rooms and suites in either a waterfront or lodge setting. Guests receive complimentary car parking, porterage, daily newspaper and Wi-Fi plus free access to the cult and classic DVD library and use of the full-size tennis court, infinity pool, sauna, and spa.

Room Types

Country style Lodge Studios are individually configured and decorated. 

Each Studio includes luxurious bathroom with European style bath and shower or dual shower, walk in robe and outdoor lounge area with garden or courtyard views. Minibars are stocked with regionally sourced sips and nibbles, Salus Spa's own sparkling mineral water and Nespresso coffee machines. 

All studios have flat screen televisions with a selection of cable channels, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth music systems.

Waterfront Suites are nestled on the lake shore; ensuring magical sunset views from the courtyard or balcony. Cocooned within rambling lake shore gardens; suites are accessed by short walk from the main reception through the fern gully over the mineral spring fed creek. They also have private lake access.

Each suite has unique décor; soft textural fabrics ensure feelings of comfort and luxury. There are original paintings from resident artist Allan Wolf-Tasker as well as white eggshell bookcases featuring individual pieces from local ceramicist Bridget Bodenham and Bronze artist Anthony van der Zweep. Small touches such as birdwatching books and binoculars help guests to recognise the many beautiful examples of local fauna that can be viewed from the comfort of the suite including kookaburras, wedge tailed eagles, geese, and more.

Suites are spacious and individually configured in an open plan layout with a superior king bed, lounge area and dining table. Ensuites are contemporary with marble topped vanity, heated floors, double spa bath and separate shower.

A walk in robe provides plenty of space to unpack for longer stays. There is also mini bar, tea & coffee facilities, TV, DVD, charging outlet, Bluetooth enabled sound system and free Wi-Fi.

Spacious and luxurious Lodge Suites are all individually decorated and designed with contemporary country interiors. No one is exactly the same.

Each Lodge Suite features unique artwork, books and collectables. Large indulgent ensuites finished in textured stone feature heated floors with either bath and separate walk in shower or double European style showers. 

Bedrooms feature elegant king sized beds with views to a private courtyard. Large wardrobes provide enough space for long haul travellers. Separate lounge areas include minibar stocked with regionally sourced sips and nibbles, Salus Spa's own sparkling mineral water, Nespresso Coffee machines.

Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Daylesford; beautiful Waterfront Pool Studios have some of the best views on the property. Immediately adjacent to the solar heated infinity pool – accessed either via balconies or through the private garden gate – the rooms overlook the pool waters or serene Spotted Gum laid terraces towards the lakeshore and rows of silver birch originally planted in 1979.

The recently renovated studios are indulgently appointed with plush interiors – large comfortable king beds with local woollen throws, wide luxurious sofas and armchairs perfect for relaxing in the afternoon with a little room service or glass of wine while watching the sunset over the far side of the lake. Modern ensuites include heated floors, brightly lit make up mirrors & dual showers.

The Retreat is a secluded luxury Country House within the grounds of Lake House. Drawing on the architectural elements and village like cluster of the surrounding property, two beautifully appointed bedrooms have adjacent walk through dressing rooms and magnificent ensuites feature deep baths and separate generous showers. The whole Retreat can be booked for 4 guests or as 2 separate villas for 2 guests each.

The Retreat Package offers you a private check in from 3:00pm, access to a private car park, choice of daily newspaper, complimentary wireless internet, a grazing lunch and bottle of regional wine in your room, pre dinner drinks and canapés served by your own personal butler, a three course a la carte dinner at their award winning restaurant, a full evening butler turn-down service and a full country breakfast for two people.
