The Goldfields and Spa Tour is more than a six day, 250 kilometre cycling tour on predominantly quiet roadways across a diversity of attractive landscapes. Plenty of time to relax, visit attractions and meet a range of locals each with a fine story to tell. The tour starts and finishes in the quaint village of Trentham; 95 kilometres from Melbourne. Cycle quiet back roads then overnight at the Northern Arts Hotel in Castlemaine; perfect to experience the town's vibe and meet some of its artisans. Day two cycle to Maldon; possibly Australia's best preserved gold mining town. Day three and onto the volcanic plains of Maryborough via a lunch visit to a farm and the Havelock Nature Conservation Park (a birders delight). Overnight at the wonderfully restored Bull and Mouth Hotel. Day four is a longer cycle including lunch with the owners of a boutique winery. Day four and five: two nights in Australia's spa capital Daylesford with short ride options. Dine at an exquisite 2 Hat rated Japanese restaurant. The final days cycle to Trentham is a scenic delight and includes a country picnic lunch.
