Wake to the sound of 300 Bag Pipes and Drums marking the start of the 75th Daylesford Highland Gathering as thousands from all over Victoria descend on this famous spa town to celebrate Scottish culture and heritage. The iconic pipe band street march has been in place since 1952, delighting crowds as they jostle for the perfect viewing spot on Vincent Street. Then a full day awaits you at Victoria Park, with something for everyone. The Daylesford Pipe Band Competition continues, rounded out with the breathtaking spectacle of the massed bands marching across the field at the end of the day. Enjoy the skill of over 100 competitors in the Victorian Highland Dance Championships or cheer on the mighty Highland Games. Athletes will compete in Caber Toss, Heavy and Light Hammer throw, and Weight over Bar to name a few. Barwon Academy of Arms will also be competing for glory in the Scáthach Broadsword tournament. Savour a tasty Haggis burger, wander the Celtic market full of Scottish wares, whisky, food and clantents before visiting the Highland cattle and Highland dogs. The kids will be busy navigating the haybale maze, joining a Tug-o-War, exploring skills with a sword and visiting the face painter. So gather the clan, get your kilt on and book a weekend away to immerse yourself in all things Scottish in Victoria's Heartland.
