The charm of Locarno in Switzerland meets that of down under in Hepburn Springs! Founded by Swiss-Italian immigrants in the mid 1800s and situated just five minutes' drive from Daylesford, this picturesque township boasts architecture you would normally find in southern Europe and a landscape adorned with the highest concentration of mineral springs in the country. It's a mix that captivates all who visit — making this one of Central Victoria's top short break destinations.

Mineral bathing

Visitors to Hepburn have been enjoying the therapeutic benefits of 'taking the waters' for more than a century. Drawn straight from the source in the Mineral Springs Reserve, mineral rich water is heated and fed into bathing pools at the iconic Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa and The Mineral Spa at the Art Deco-era Mineral Springs Hotel. Book a bathing session and let your holiday cares drift away. There's also a wealth of wellness practitioners operating in the area, so why not pamper yourself with a treatment or two? Because you're worth it!

Heritage attractions

Once you've emerged from the water feeling refreshed and revitalised, take a stroll along the main street of Hepburn to admire the meticulously restored buildings from yesteryear. Of particular note are the characterful Old Macaroni Factory (now an events space snd B&B) and photogenic Villa Parma (now part of the Mineral Springs Hotel). Recharge along the way with a bite to eat in some of the best cafes and eateries(PDF, 1MB) in the wider region.

Walks and outdoor activities

Leave time for further exploration of the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve, where glorious Hepburn Regional Park will envelop you in its verdant embrace. You might also like to do one of the scenic short walks in the area, including along the new Argyle Spring Sculpture Walk, out to the Blowhole, or through nearby Lalgambuk Mount Franklin Reserve.

Seasoned golfers and novices alike will love teeing off at Hepburn Springs Golf Club. Don't be surprised to find yourself sharing the fairways of this 18-hole course with mobs of curious kangaroos!

Situated just a ten-minute drive from Hepburn and open daily, popular Lavandula Farm encompasses acres of European-inspired gardens (including fields of French lavender), idyllic farmland, and heritage stone buildings from the Swiss Italian period. The property has a cafe and trattoria onsite, and invites visitors to slow down and enjoy the sensory richness of country life.
